Same same yet different - Twin's birthdays and destiny

I have been fascinated by Twins ever since the start of my Bazi discovery journey.  For 2 persons born exactly in the same... thumbnail 1 summary

I have been fascinated by Twins ever since the start of my Bazi discovery journey.

For 2 persons born exactly in the same year, month, day and hour ... do you think they will have very similar or different lives?

Life is like thumbprints, there can never be identical life ever. However theoretically, life experiences can be uncannily similar for the 2 persons with same birthdays as the milestones dictated in their Bazi's will be identical.

I based my observations on Sam & Francis, my cousins, who are twins born in 1976 - dragon year. Last year, we received the tragic news that one of the twins, Sam who was based in Malaysia had passed away suddenly on the day of his birthday. Spooky.

Apparently on Sam's 39th birthday he had a heated argument with a lady friend and fell to his death from the 15th Floor of his apartment building. The police had ruled it an accident or possible suicide.

But if you knew Sam, you will reject that idea of suicide. He was nicknamed "the fun cousin", always very cheerful and well-liked by all the relatives. Sam got married to a lovely wife when he was 21 years old. His wife was better educated and hailed from a more affluent family. They had 2 kids, Sam his daughter and son.

Same Same!!

The twins were both good looking, intelligent and charismatic popular among ladies. Though for some reason, I was more connected to my "fun cousin." The other cousin Francis (who is not so fun), he had found his faith in the Christianity, married a better-educated daughter of a well-to-do local boss in his church community and they too had adorable kids - also a daughter first, followed by a younger son and baby daughter.

Same same yet different?

Decades ago when all of us had graduated and started working for employers, the two twin brothers were ambitious. Unlike the rest of us, they had gone ahead to set up their seperate businesses with different sets of partners and angel investors.

At the beginning both businesses were profitable but eventually folded due to partnerships that turned sour.

So last year during Sam's wake, I remembered thinking how different the twin brothers' lives had ended up. For that matter largely due to personal free will and choice. But recently, rumours again was that Francis' marriage is also shaky at the moment. I hope the family stays together for the sake of my nieces and nephews. Free will and choices can definitely change one's reality, one just need to open up and not be too stubborn about things which cannot be changed or removed.

In conclusion from observing their major life events, I saw some striking similarities:

1) They had both "married up"

2) They both had a daughter before having a son.

3) They both had businesses which were profitable, till not

4) By fate and by choice, both my cousins' families had gone through or are currently undergoing family disharmony.

5) In Chinese culture, the father is the primary lineage and the mother is usually secondary. In this case, looks like my twin cousins' descendants will be "absorbed" into their mothers' lineage if faced with some kind of uncertainty in future. Sam's children are already closer to their mothers' side of family and hardly know the relatives on his side.

Are you curious on how Bazi practitioners analyse the destiny of identical twins? We know fully well that their birthdays are in the same year, month, day and hour. Yet we are very sure that the twins will not have identical lives. How do we deal with this phenomenon?

***Continue reading if you like technical stuff. Otherwise, skip to the next heading below- Is it possible for twins to be born in different years***

Putting you asleep in 3 ... 2 ... 1
If you are an avid reader on Chinese metaphysics, you are already aware that while "Bazi (8 Characters)" by definition refers to "reading" of someone's personal 8 elements embedded in 8 Chinese characters found in birthdays.

But stopping at 8 characters, which is the hour pillar can prove to be problematic when there are twins, triplets or more? But too bad, apparently our sadistic ancestors did not leave us any knowledge beyond the hour pillar ... the elusive 5th Pillar of destiny did not exist.

So it seems like our ancestors had decided that 8 characters will be sufficient to cover a person's entire life. But again for twins, the "5th pillar" could be vital since the mother tend to give birth one after only minutes apart.

But of course, there are grand masters out there who do not need the "5th pillar", they can just go by the "feel" or energy upon meeting the twin clients and be very accurate on their readings.

When in doubt, look for help!

To solve this problem, I had consulted some avid practitioners in Malaysia and Singapore. Seems like the common practice is to "push" the hour pillar of the younger twin to the next hour.

Ah...... this can make sense from a technical point of view. Because by pushing back the hour, it is still reasonable to make the primary assumption that most things between the twins will be the same except:

1) After 50, their lives will be more significantly different (dictated by hour pillar).

2) Also their friends, offsprings, the right side of their face and bodies and other minor attributes are more likely to be different (dictated by hour pillar)

Typically up to a certain point, we accept that twins will be sharing similar strengths & weakness; personality; family circumstances. Unless of course they are separated at birth, otherwise most twins usually go through the same things.

Perhaps the noticeable difference will be due to external influence from someone or something which the twins cannot share (by logic and law of most lands), i.e when the elements of their chosen spouse come into play.

Marriage is a powerful metaphysical solution!

As far as history is concerned, marriage is an important tool for the human race. We had been shamelessly using marriage as transactions to strike political or other favourable alliance among us. A shamelessly true story across different countries and cultures. But it works.

In the past, the fate of many weaker nations had been transformed by giving away the king's prized daughters as sweet presents to their barbaric and stronger enemy. The fate of many nations had overturned by the ultimate sacrifice by our women folk.

So yes, one of the most practical ways to change your luck is through marriage. But the trick is just any Tom, Dick and Harry but best to be married a compatible partner (Bazi compatibility).

But I digress. Anyway ....

What do i mean by "pushing back" the hour pillar?

1) Assuming a set of twins were born on this day and this morning at 8am.

2) The birth hour of elder twin will be considered at proper 8 am - The Dragon hour.

3) For the second twin, the birth hour of the second twin is artificially "pushed" to the next pillar which is the Snake hour.

So we read their birthday as 2 different charts as below:

So who needs the 5th pillar anyway huh? Many things in life are same same ... yet different anyway.

Ok you have skip the boring part ...... Now for some interesting facts on twins:

1) Is it POSSIBLE for twins to be born in different years??? - Read story here

Twins: 2 mins apart but entirely different years.
Hitting the jackpot of jackpots.
This case will be interesting. My first thought being, the twins will definitely have quite different Bazi - therefore destiny and luck cycles! Indeed the day master for elder sister is Yin Metal, starting her first luck pillar at age while the younger bro is a Yang Water starting his first luck pillar at age 8!

But surprise surprise! Actually for the Hsia Calender (which is the master reference for Bazi dates), the twin babies are considered to be born in the same year of Yin Wood Goat (乙未), the same month and the same hour!

So in  Hsia Calendar terms, for their destiny analysis actually only the day master is different!

Same same yet different? But of course as the reference point in birth chart, the difference in day master changes EVERYTHING.

There are some interesting and unique features in the Bazi of this pair of twins.

Unlike the "traditional" twins who are usually likely to share very similar features and life circumstances, for them the potential of vastly different destiny is already set in motion. This pair of twins .... will not be like the "tradition" twins by Bazi Standards.

For example, one baby boy and one baby girl - their luck cycle will already be different based on gender! As if that's not enough, another unique feature - the starting age for luck pillars for them is also 6 years apart! In layman terms, they will get lucky and unlucky at different stages of their lives despite being twins and born minutes of each other! What is so surprising, you might ask ...

This is a culture shock for Bazi readers, well for me anyway because the philosophy of Bazi is completely rewritten for this pair of twins. From a technical point of view, the twins bazi are so different that they might as well be considered as siblings who are born one after another but .... NOT TWINS, no.

Think about it. Depending on the education policies on the country of birth, the elder twin and younger twin may be admitted to Primary One, only one after another over two different years! What if the cut-off date set by the country for the same "age group" are all children born between 1st Jan 2011 to 31st Dec 2011? I guess the parents will likely be explaining this a lot to people.

Perhaps this can also account for why the 2 kids have very different luck pillars too. Definitely somewhere along the line, the twins see find themselves often in situations where markedly different treatments were conferred. Perhaps they might even make up a term for it called the "2 minute which changes life and destiny".
