Joseph Schooling is a third generation Singaporean, an Eurasian boy, born in Singapore to a Eurasian Father (Colin) and Chinese Mother (May). He is the only son in the family. In his chart, there are no siblings stars as well (比劫星)。This will also mean the natural environment for Joseph is a good one, in the sense that he does not need to compete for resources or attention with other siblings (competitors in bazi).
His father would had been 51 (not sure if he was previously married) when Joseph was born in 16 June 1995! And yes, Joseph is a true blue Singaporean. His father is a Singaporean Eurasian and he speaks a little of the rusty Teochew dialect.
Some Chinese people believe that 老来得子 is always a tremendous blessing from the heavens.
Some people also think that a son born to a father in his advanced age has a special purpose in life.

First glance, really nothing special ... but ....
This chart is a classical example - if you choose the right occupation and right goals according to the innate potential of birthday, you will not go very wrong in life and can achieve many great feats.
Majority of favourable elements in chart
He is a strong Yang Earth man, born in the summer. His favourable elements would be metal (action), water (money) and wood (power, status, discipline).
Yang Earth people has a special feature, the speed of learning is slower than others. Their thoughts come slower as well. However once they master it, their skills will be cast in stone, so you will see them progress rapidly, very capable of replicating the same perfect move, over and over again flawlessly.
Schooling chose the right sport, or some will say, the swimming sport had chosen him
To be successful, one must find their own natural platform where they can perform better than at least 75% of population ... almost effortlessly in others perception. Joseph is crowned the "butterfly king", leaping in and out of water so powerfully. For the life of me, I cannot even execute a half-baked butterfly stroke, like many of us mere mortals.
So you can see, he had chosen a compatible sport to his chart i.e. swimming as water is his favorable element and he focused on the butterfly event, something he can do very well because he had meticulously "perfected" it.
On the other hand from the chart, he will probably do well with metal related sport e.g. racket sports like badminton, tennis or golf etc. 八字身旺， 食伤泄秀. But it is not his main interest as metal element is not prevalent, chart wise. He will probably also do well in bowling as well as it is related to wood element (the woods lanes in a straight rectangle arrow towards the pins).

Chart’s favourable elements has no sabotage - 喜神没有被破
From age 0 - 50, his chart is quite beautiful in the sense that there is no sabotaging pillars next to each other. No clashing and no combining away good and useful attributes.
When energy can flow in a chart without sabotaging pillars, this person has a high chance, e.g. 75% more likely to get the essential environment, tools and helpful people to help him, in whatever he wants to achieve. It is a bit like a electric circuit board. The chart owner is the bulb while the board is his environment -when there are no breakages or lesser resistance in between the wires, the bulb (chart owner) can light up relatively easier, almost effortlessly and continue to light up for a longer time.

However the good news is, even for the most average charts, the bulb do light up, but intermittently and unable to last long enough for people to discover their talent.
Discipline brings him recognition and keeps him in focus
In Schooling’s chart - Discipline is represented by the wood element while money is represented by the water element. In his chart, money elements goes to support the discipline element very well.
It means a few things, he is naturally disciplined and respects authority. He obeys what the coaches want most of the time, even if he has doubt. His routine is rewarding for him. From the first pillar onwards, money element (water) - which also represents his father, is constantly in his chart and supporting his training life. His father is very supportive and that makes a big big difference.
As most of us will acknowledge, 90% of Singaporean parents will not be forthcoming in supporting their children in anything other than academic studies, because it is risky to groom your only child in uncharted waters i.e. Sports where Singapore, a small nation took a total 51 years to produce a gold medal.
Mr Colin Schooling? He went all the way and will have less doubts than other parents. The father and son are united in their collective goals to swim all the way into the greatest sporting event since umpteen years ago. That level of commitment for anything other than studies is super rare, for Singapore anyway.
Think about it, it is not unknown for sportsmen with great potential to enter the national team, only to buckled under the stress of intense training hours, grilling from coaches in national teams. However for Schooling is different, he can withstand it and manage the stress better than most potential champs.
Because routine works for him. Water (father, money, environment e.g. swimming pool near his house) reinforced and support wood (discipline). The mechanisms of his chat had made pursuing the sport favourable for him. Encouragingly so, though he is born in summer.
Missing element in his chart - metal (action) is showing up in his luck pillar now!
My esteemed Singaporean teacher Master Chew (in my heart, he is the grand master of Bazi) had noted and taught us that most of the time, the missing element is also the favourable element for the day master (the chart owner). So for Schooling, he is able to articulate what works for him and what do not. This will in turn makes it easier for people to help and guide him.
For some weird reason, Schooling does not seem to have many helpful friends of his age, hence fitting in can be a pain in the neck for him. Well of course now it is different, everyone wants to be his friend. Even the girl in tinder.

The presence of action element (which is missing or weak in his chart) showing up in luck pillar is like adding a new battery to the entire circuitry. Hence you can imagine how brightly the bulb can be shining now.
His nobleman is tattooed on his back - The Ox.
Nobleman is additional blessings from heavens. It can be anyone born in the year of the zodiac animal or in other related forms (one has to be aware to see where their noblemen are hiding in their lives).
All of us are assigned 2 to 4 nobleman's according to the year and day which we were born in. For schooling, Ox and Goat are his day nobleman. I am not sure if he had his bazi examined, but no matter what, tattooing it on his back and the fact that he is studying in the cowboy state of Texas shows - 在天成形，在地成局 (energy forming outline in the heaven, will take its shape on earth).
It means without a doubt that there is a prominent nobleman is in his life now (among other noblemen) and that man is rightly Michael Phelps. I strongly concurred that Phelps is the real motivating factor in his life. It is like running a marathon and you need a pace keeper, running in front of you to ensure the race is on track? That person for Schooling is Michael Phelps.
Well since my nobleman is also the Ox, I am seriously considering tattooing it now. When i did, I will take a picture of paste it in this blog.
Anyway Schooling is now a legend and did the entire Singapore very proud! I have the good fortune to see our little red dot won an Olympic GOLD medal in my lifetime! Woohoo!
In a strange way, I wish the late Lee Kuan Yew could have seen this historical moment too, an additional feather to his cap for forging the iron in Singapore and this particular Singaporean - Joseph fantastic Schooling.

Hopefully the coverage for his win will serve as an inspiration for all the younger people in Singapore … and also dominate the headlines on media - so that i will see less of the Pokemon craze being jostling for space in the news for the next few days.
